STUDENT DIVISION
This Division features classes for introductory and experienced dancers. All classes participate in Showcase. New students with prior experience are required to contact the Education Director (classes@tallahasseeballet.org or 850-224-6917, ext.23) for initial placement recommendations to proceed with enrollment. Following evaluation in the initial classes, the Education Director will contact the student’s family to provide a firm-level placement for the school year.
Enrollment based on age as of October 1, 2026.

Level 1 Ballet
Ages 7+
This bright and disciplined ballet class introduces basic classical movements while progressing strength and rhythmic skills. Level 2 Ballet

Classes are designed for students with a minimum of two years of prior experience wanting to develop and strengthen their ballet skills with aspirations of pointe work and auditioning for TTB’s Youth Company. Ballet vocabulary and technique is taught through barre and center floor work, including combinations across the floor. These classes also begin to bring attention to the artistry of ballet movement and fluidly connecting steps, as well as preparing young dancers for auditions and performances.

Mixed Level & Other Styles
Ages 7-12+
Teen Introductory Ballet (Ages 12+)
A Student Division Ballet class for dancers ages 12-18 wishing to begin ballet for the first time or return in a slow-paced environment!
Lyrical
Lyrical is an expressive type of dance that combines the art of ballet and jazz. The style of lyrical prepares dancers to transition between the styles of Ballet and Contemporary. The class consists of warm-up exercises on the floor and standing, as well as movement across the floor. Class culminates in the practice of choreography and artistry as well as improvisational skills.
Level 2/3 (Ages 9+) requires placement.
Jazz
Jazz classes build strength, technique, movement quality, rhythm, balance, and performance skills by reinforcing classical jazz vocabulary and conditioning. These classes will include a warm-up, across-the-floor exercises, and a fun choreography combination to upbeat music! Dancers are preferred to be in a ballet class of coordinating level or may contact the School Director for placement recommendations.
