DANCECHANCE

DanceChance was initiated in 1997 by Artistic Director Joyce Straub Fausone. The program was created to provide opportunities to economically disadvantaged children while exposing them to the art form of dance.

Through this program, The Tallahassee Ballet (TTB) offers students throughout Leon County free weekly dance instruction, dancewear, and shoes for the class. Using the National Dance Institute’s dance education curriculum, DanceChance engages students and encourages them to express themselves through movement. The spring recital allows the students to demonstrate what they have learned to their families, friends and teachers. Participants are also invited to learn more about dance - and are provided the opportunity to receive complimentary tickets to performances. They are also invited to community open houses held at TTB studios, where they can watch the Company train and rehearse. In addition, talented and dedicated students are awarded scholarships to continue training over the summer at TTB.

TTB's professional and qualified instructors share their passion and love for dance, while also imparting discipline and encouraging self-expression. DanceChance provides an exceptional, unique enrichment to traditional education.
